Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book my session?
I typically don't book within the same week. If you're needing a service and my availability is open during that week, there will be a rush fee applied to your invoice.

What should I bring to my photo shoot?
Please be sure to always bring a blanket and something to touch up your hair & make-up.  For children, bring a favorite toy, book, something your can bribe your child with and a change of clothes. You may also bring two extra hand towels, one dry and the other wet and cold for summer sessions. 

Can I take my photos in a studio?
Unfortunately, no. I am a natural light, on-location photographer and do not provide studio sessions.  I will shoot in a studio (provided by you) or in the comfort of your own home during peak hours of the day.

How many images will I get?
The number of images will be determined on the session that you've picked or were quoted. Anything more than that would require an additional cost.

How long will it take to receive my images?
The editing process will take a minimum of 10 days and as long as 3 weeks, depending on the number of images being edited. Please note: You may be able to receive your images back sooner. In this case, a rush fee will be applied.

How will I receive my images? 
I will post your images in a private gallery. Your gallery will be up for 30 days for free.  It can be extended an additional 30 days for a fee of $50, due to storage and gallery fees.

Can I download my images from the gallery?
Yes. You can download the images twice using the email you provide.

Can I cancel my session at anytime?
Yes. You are free to cancel your session at any time.  Please see below regarding refunds.

Do you offer refunds?
I do not issue any refunds on deposits and cancellations within 48-hours of your scheduled session. Please book and cancel at your own risk. You are free to reschedule your session if that's a consideration.

Do you photograph newborns?
No, I am not currently photographing newborns at this time.

Do you book events?
I normally do not book event sessions, but will do so on a case by case basis. Please understand that the quote will be based on having to rent the proper equipment associated with your event.  Please contact me to receive your quote regarding event bookings.


Session Fee & Deposits
My session fees are set and will not be negotiated (unless I am offering a special).  I will accept up to 3 payments.  There is a 50% deposit required at the time of booking.  I will not hold your date until your deposit has been paid.  Please make sure you communicate with me regarding how you choose to pay.  You will have 48-hours to pay your deposit once your invoice has been sent.  After that, your session request is considered null & void.

Time & Tardiness
Please be on time to your scheduled session and try to arrive at least 15-minutes prior to your appointment. Please contact me prior to the start time if you are running late.  If you are over 15 minutes late, I have the option to cancel the session without an option for refund.  Using my discretion, I will choose to either cancel or deduct that time from the total number of hours that you were set to receive. 

Only the people scheduled to take photos will be allowed to the session plus one additional person.  There are no exceptions to this rule. If you bring more than one additional person(s), I will immediately cancel the session on the spot.   

Please note: Both you and I will do our due diligence with keeping up with the weather on your scheduled session date. If I feel that the weather would be too bad to shoot in, I will contact you to reschedule the session to my next available date.

What I look for when rescheduling portrait sessions:

  • thunderstorms/thunder and lightning
  • winter weather warnings and/or advisories, including extreme cold
  • tornado watches and/or warnings
  • extreme fog
  • heavy rain or downpours
  • excessive heat warnings/advisories, including extreme heat/humidity

Minors must always be accompanied with the adult who booked the session.

There has been some confusion as to what my clients are able to do with the images they purchase from me (a photographer) and who owns the “rights” to the images. 

All rights to the photographs belong to me, the photographer who took them.

What this means, for practical purposes, is that you the “client” are not legally able to resell, alter, make copies of or post their photos anywhere without the permission of the photographer. This includes things such as grabbing a print screen of your photos from your online gallery or scanning one of your purchased prints and then printing another copy for yourself. Of course, a client and photographer may come to an agreement that would allow any or all these things, but unless you have such an agreement in writing, please do not violate my copyright on the images I have taken.
Unless we’ve come to another agreement, I do not allow either proofs or finished images from your online gallery to be posted publicly by clients or their friends and family. However, I’m more than happy to provide a web optimized, web version for you to use for posting on your social media accounts.
Please don’t print these images; they are for web use only.
If you have questions that are not addressed here, please don’t hesitate to ask me about these things prior to scheduling a photo session. I will do my best to accommodate your needs whenever possible and to make sure we are both happy with the arrangement.

Photoshop & Editing
Please understand that I only use PS for basic editing.  I cannot and will not alter my images to make you look unnatural. Photoshop will be used only for blemishes, smoothing and such editing.
I will not make your hair longer (or change the color), make you appear smaller, or any such alteration. Please note: If you're not confident in your appearance, you should reconsider taking photos at this time.  In this case, I can assist you with shopping for apparel that will give you the desired look you wish to have.

Extra Cameras
Are not allowed during the session. Please leave your phones and/or cameras in your car during this time.

Special Offers
At any point I am offering a special, the offer will only be considered during the time of that particular offer.  Meaning, I will not honor a Father's Day special during Labor Day.  All special offers will come with a beginning and end date.  Please be sure to contact me during the time I am offering it.  Special offers will not be extended unless advertised.
